Mary Virginia Elizabeth Coleman, 91, of Burlington, formerly of Cherokee Village, Arkansas, died at 10:30 AM Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Danville Care Center in Danville.

Born August 15, 1918, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Philip A. and Anna Marie Dehmer Zotz. On October 7, 1937, she married Fred R. Coleman in Burlington. He died July 21, 1989.

Mary had worked at Sylvania and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Cherokee Village, AK and a former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Burlington. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and was a Lioness, and an avid card player and Chicago Cubs fan. To Mary, family and faith were the most important of all. |
Survivors include one son, Bill (Edna) Coleman of Burlington; one daughter, Elizabeth (Ray) Johnston of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Anna Snyder and Clara Owens, three brothers, Frank Zotz, Phillip Zotz, and Carl Zotz, and one son, Robert F. Coleman. |
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the family to receive friends following a 6:00 PM Rosary Service until 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the NEW Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 DIVISION STREET.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Coleman will be 10:00 AM Thursday, September 10, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Father Patrick J. Hilgendorf as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. |
