Leah Mae Smith, 76, of Burlington, went home to be with her Lord at 2:44 PM Friday, June 4, 2010, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born December 5, 1933, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Alden and Adeline McCready Gladman. On August 25, 1951, she married Mervin Smith in Burlington. They later divorced. On May 15, 1978, she married Lloyd Coen in Las Vegas, NV. He died June 17, 1990. On July 26, 1999, she married William Smith in Grand Junction, CO.

She was a homemaker.
She was of the Christian faith. She was an artist and a church soloist, and was involved with the Senior Center in Kingman, AZ, and the Bell Canto Chorale. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, knitting and crocheting, and raising her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, family teacher and prayer warrior.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Debra K. Fritz, Colleen A. Smith, Susan L. Peterson, Karen A. (Mark) Petersen, and Diane M. Sagor, all of Burlington; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly (Willis) Brown of Middletown, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her second husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

As per the request of Mrs. Smith, cremation has been accorded.
A Celebration of Leah's Life will be from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, June 6, 2010, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home Community Room.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
